That's genuinely the origin story. Everything after it is just us making
the rematch harder.
01
Where it started
A game for mates
It started as something we made for friends at the weekend. Then somebody lost, took it badly, and demanded a rematch — so the next one was harder. That happened enough times that the clues stopped being easy and the whole thing stopped being casual.
02
Getting technical
Proof beats arguing
Every game ended the same way: two teams insisting they got there first. So we started taping QR codes to checkpoints. Suddenly there was a record, the arguments stopped, and we kept adding tech from there.
03
Word got out
Other people's occasions
Word travelled. Wedding parties, baby showers, corporate away days, birthdays. Every new type of group allowed us to evolve, making the game better each time.
04
The app
One place for the whole game
Taped-up QR codes only got us so far, so we built our own app: live leaderboards, real-time tracking, clues that unlock on the clock, and a check-in that settles it on the spot. We started off as The Hunt, but as we added more features we rebranded.
05
Now
Crack & Chase
We are now called Crack & Chase — new name, same obsession. We're still writing harder clues, still plotting better routes, still the game where the last checkpoint comes down to seconds. The city remains a good board.
Created in Preston // Playing anywhere
Preston. Manchester. London. Dubai. Tokyo. New York.
If your city has streets, we can build
a Chase in it.
